Up, Up & Away

Chris and I headed to Decatur to catch the balloon glow Saturday night.  We were disappointed they weren't in the air glowing, but it was still really pretty!  I think next year, we're going to try to go in the morning to see them fly in.

Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon?
Would you like to glide in my beautiful balloon?
We could float among the stars together, you and I

For we can fly, we can fly
Up, up and away
My beautiful, my beautiful balloon

The world's a nicer place in my beautiful balloon
It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon
We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky

For we can fly, we can fly
Up, up and away
My beautiful, my beautiful balloon

Suspended under a twilight canopy
We'll search the clouds for a star to guide us
If by some chance you find yourself loving me
We'll find a cloud to hid us, keep the moon beside us

Love is waiting there in my beautiful balloon
Way up in the air in my beautiful balloon
If you'll hold my hand we'll chase your dream across the sky

For we can fly, we can fly
Up, up and away
My beautiful, my beautiful balloon

So this isn't a new store but I'm pretty sure it has a new owner since I was there last.  I'm most excited about the paint classes offered!  You can plan a paint or craft (frames, crosses, decor) party for some friends or bring a piece from home and the shop owner will teach you how to use chalk paint to jazz it up!  Check out her calendar online and let me know of what treasures you find there!

Concerts in the Park might be my favorite Huntsville event!  Even if the music isn't your favorite, it's always fun to watch all the interesting people and cute dogs.  Bring a full picnic, a snack or take your pick of the several food trucks and vendors nearby.  Piper & Leaf and Suzy's Pops are always there if you want something refreshing.  There's a full line-up of the bands listed on their website.  The June 26 concert is patriotic with the Arsenal's Army Materiel Command Band and ends with fireworks!

Catching Up

The last few weeks have been full of all sorts of fun, random things!  Here's just a glimpse...

At Lowe Mill's Boot Sale a couple of weeks ago, I found a little buggy like Abby and I played with.  Don't tell Honey Bunch, but Abby used to loving "stuffing" our cat Puffy into the buggy!  I wanted to put Honey Bunch in it but someone is too fluffy!  Oh...this only cost me $1!

I got to decorate for the graduate recognition breakfast at the church I work at.  I didn't actually get to set it all up so I don't have a finished pic, but here are the centerpieces as I worked on them.

I found the cutest picks from a crafter on Etsy!  I had her make "Class of 2017", "Congrats" and "Finally".

In Chris's world, he's busy becoming a farmer!  Here's his first little pepper...

This past weekend, we attended Meg's son's wedding and had such a good time!

We tried-and-true-Baptists even got a few dances in...SO FUN!

When the DJ had all married couples come dance then leave the dance floor based on how long they'd been married, Moma and Daddy were the last ones standing with almost 43 years of marriage!  I was so proud!

We were so happy to share a special day with Meg and George...

Back to work Monday, this is what I faced...several mounds of paperwork, getting the students ready to go to Botswana.

On Thursday of this week, Chris's grandparents will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary!  Not too often you get to buy one of these...

We love Memom & Ranant!

I'll leave you with some cuteness that's sure to bring a smile...

Mother's Day

Thanks to the hundreds of people who voted to "Fix Momma's Mouth"!  Unfortunately my Moma wasn't the winner, but she certainly felt the love of all who gave their support!

We celebrated Moma all day on Sunday, ending with a delish meal Abby and I cooked for her.  I made a family favorite- Mississippi Pot Roast.  This is seriously an amazing recipe!  I also made a Hershey Bar Cake that I first tasted the last time we were with our Georgia family.  Thanks, Patsy- it was so yummy!

I was also excited to use our wedding china for the first time!  Since we were married, I've purposely used every wedding gift but had yet to use our china.  Over the last few years, I had collected table linens, candlesticks and napkin rings from various places and was thrilled to see it all come together for a sweet Mother's Day table.

Table linens from Target...

...napkins rings from Hobby Lobby...

...candlesticks from The Nest (Madison, AL) and candles from World Market.

We had the most lovely night on the porch, surrounded by party lights and family...it's one of my favorite places to be!  Celebrating my Moma is not a hard thing to do- she's the heart of our family and we love her like crazy!

No, we're not talking about the kind of boots you wear...we're talking the British boot!  This is basically a flea market in people's trunks or truck beds.  I've been once before and just loved the wide variety of antiques and unusual finds.  As with all Lowe Mill events, don't forget to bring your Piper & Leaf jar for a tea refill!

You need to try...

...Lays Kettle Cooked Olive Oil & Herbs Chips.

Life. Changing.

They remind me of Carrabba's bread and dipping oil.

They're like refined, fancy potato chips...that's a thing right?

They'll take your bologna sandwich lunch to a new level.
