Mingling of Souls

Chris and I attended our first marriage conference this weekend- the Mingling of Souls. I've waited my whole life to get to go to a marriage conference so I was pumped!

First Baptist hosted Matt and Lauren Chandler and about 2,000 people in attendance plus thousands streaming live...including Nick and Abby!

We heard lots of good advice and encouragement but if I had to choose one main point it would be "become an expert on your spouse's strengths."

Chris and I left the conference feeling very blessed at how we can see the Lord binding us together while He teaches us how to love each other more.

I couldn't help but think of all my single friends who desire marriage yet are waiting for the Lord's provision. This weekend reminded me how important it is to not settle but to wait on the one the Lord has for you. It also reminded me how important it is to prepare yourself for marriage before you're married!  I'm so glad I observed other marriages, read quality books on marriage and kept my relationship with the Lord strong before I met Chris. I recently heard someone say who you are before you're married is who you'll be after you're married (good, bad and ugly!).

There's so much to ponder and process after a conference. It seemed only right to start our processing at brunch! Chris surprised me by taking me to Biscotti's for their Creme Brûlée French Toast with Orange Honey Marscapone Cream.  A perfect end to our conference weekend!

Our Valentine's Day Treat

We were beyond excited to go see Phantom of the Opera last night!

We both love the show, soundtrack and movie and the live show didn't disappoint! We found a half-priced Groupon deal and ended up with great seats!

The weather was perfect, our dinner at the new BurgerFi delish and the show amazing!

We felt so blessed all evening to have each other to share such fun nights with!

3rd e-iversary

Three years ago tomorrow (Monday), the Lord sent me an e-Harmony email saying..."Meet Christopher, your new match."

Thank you, Lord, for my forever match!

"A Better Place"
Rachel Platten
{listen below, thanks to YouTube}

I'll tell the world, I'll sing a song

It's a better place since you came along
Since you came along
Your touch is sunlight through the trees
Your kisses are the ocean breeze
Everything's alright when you're with me

And I hold my favorite thing

I hold the love that you bring
But it feels like I've opened my eyes again
And the colors are golden and bright again
There's a song in my heart, I feel like I belong
It's a better place since you came along
It's a better place since you came along

I see the whole world in your eyes

It's like I've known you all my life
We just feel so right
So I pour my heart into your hands
It's like you really understand
You love the way I am

And I hold my favorite thing

I hold the happiness you bring
But it feels like I've opened my eyes again
And the colors are golden and bright again
And the sun paints the skies and the wind sings our song
It's a better place since you came along
It's a better place since you came along

Now I'm alright, now I'm alright

Everything's alright

Cause it feels like I've opened my eyes again

And the colors are golden and bright again
There's a song in my heart, I feel like I belong
It's a better place since you came along
It's a better place since you came along

Pastor's Conference 2016

Moma and Daddy came for a long weekend to join us for the Pastor's Conference at FBC. We had the privilege of hearing great men of God like Jim Cymbala, Paige Patterson, Jerry Vines, Heath Lambert, Erwin Lutzer and Paul Tripp. The preaching was deep, challenging and such a blessing!

Speaking of blessings...the choir and orchestra at FBC are incredible!!!  Such wonderful times of worship!

On Saturday, Chris's family joined us for dinner and we had a good time chatting and having the two sides together!

The weekend flew by but it's one we will never forget and consider ourselves blessed to have gotten to share it together.
