Pretty Kitty

Honey Bunch never ceases to entertain us (even long distance!) and we think she's the prettiest kitty!

It's not every day...

....you celebrate a 92nd birthday!

We gathered with Chris's family yesterday to celebrate his grandfather's birthday. He was a pilot and loves all things aviation so look at his birthday cake!

I took our idea to Publix, found the plane at Hobby Lobby and it was a hit (plus you can't beat that whipped frosting!)

The birthday boy...

Look how color coordinated!

Happy birthday, Ranant!

nom...nom...nom...

After discovering how great PF Changs lettuce wraps were a few weeks ago with Abby and Nick, I just had to try a copycat version from Pinterest.

First up, I fried rice noodles.  Had the house smelling like a walk-in Chinese restaurant!

Then used my wok to cook ground chicken (first time I've ever used it!) with water chestnuts, garlic, ginger, green onions and hoisin sauce (first time for that, too).

Add some lettuce and rice and...

nom...nom...nom...

Very much like the original!

Happy night...happy hydrangeas

I joined my friend Bethany and some of her friends for her painting birthday party last night.

Our painting was called Happy Hydrangeas and I had a blast (here's the sample painting...)!

We started with the background then used chalk to start sketching...

Then painted the jars...

Added some dollops to start the flowers...

And ta da...the finished product!

I'm crazy about it! Our two hour class took three hours but time flies when you're painting happy hydrangeas!

Family for the Fourth!

We had an absolute fabulous Fourth of July because Abby and Nick came for the weekend!  They brought us their new favorite treat...Piper & Leaf Artisan Tea Company's Briar Patch Brew...fresh from Huntsville!

I cooked up our favorite chicken tettrezini for dinner Friday. It's Chris's grandmother's recipe and oh so good!

And no trip to JAX is complete without a trip to the Dreamette for...

...soft serve strawberry ice cream with a hard chocolate shell.

We rounded out Day 1 with a stop at the marina to enjoy the view and watch the boats come in.

On Saturday, we played some board games and cooked-out a feast! Steaks...grilled corn...caprese salad and smashed potatoes.

We headed downtown for fireworks on the river...it was wonderful sharing it with Abby & Nick!

We had our glow sticks...

...and a picnic with strawberry shortcakes.

Happy birthday, America!

Sunday's service at First Baptist was wonderful!  When the choir started "God Bless America" and ended with and unfurled flag, I had flashbacks to I Love America and almost ran to the loft to join in!

I attempted lemon bars Sunday and my test group liked them but they were too tart for me.

We played several games of Quirkle and King of Tokyo.

After an amazing dinner at PF Chang's, we braved the drizzle for a walk on the beach. And boy were we in for a treat!

A full rainbow!!!!

I love this of the guys and their umbrellas...

After a few minutes, a second full rainbow joined in the fun!

And who'd have thought a black and white rainbow would be pretty but isn't this striking?!  You can see the second one a little better too.  What an awe-inspiring reminder of God's love for His children.

Our weekend was so relaxing, fun and full of laughter.  We basked in the gift of friends...that are family...framily??? If that's not a word, it is now!
