New fence!

For the three years Chris has lived in this house, he's been dreaming of a new fence...for obvious reasons!

Chris has been prepping for a few weeks by getting rid of the nasty bushes holding the fence up.

Lowes dropped off the supplies yesterday.

And today we came home from work to our new fence!

Bye, old fence...we won't miss you!

It's confirmed...

...the Google Car is following me!

In the two years I've been either traveling to or living in Jacksonville, I've seen the Google Car no less than a dozen times!

I've seen it on the interstate, around town, in our neighborhood and on our street!

So if you want to see what I'm doing around town, just Google any spot in JAX, go to steeet view and you'll apparently see me. I'm the one waving and taking pics!

Is anyone else being followed???

The French Pantry

Bethany and I tried a Jacksonville hot spot today- The French Pantry. Oddly enough, it's in an old warehouse in an industrial district.

And when I say hot, I mean hot! This place is only open for lunch Monday-Fridays and the line starts early and stays long. We got there 15 minutes early and about melted!

I've never been to a place that serves like this- you order dessert (usually to-go), then while you order your meal, the wait staff chooses your table and takes your dessert there. Plus, it's communal tables so who knows who you will eat with!

They start you out with dipping bread that was really good.

We both had the Fench Dip and you could tell it was fresh bread and really yummy!

I ordered the chocolate cake and wedding cake to go, to share with my sweetie later. I can't wait to dig in!

Here's Hoping!

I just planted basil and orgegeno in my new kitchen garden. I'm afraid a strong green thumb doesn't run in the family, but here's hoping!

I'll keep you posted...

Birthday Fun

I've been celebrating my birthday for about two weeks! We celebrated as a family when we were up over Memorial Day and Chris had a birthday treat for me Saturday.

The celebration continued yesterday at work when Michael brought me my favs from Maple Street Biscuits and then I met Mom and Memom for lunch.

The highlight of the day was dinner with my sweetie at a new spot we discovered- The Candy Apple Cafe!

It's in a historic home in the middle of downtown and has the most funky, whimsical decorations I've ever seen!

They serve French/Southern fusion cuisine...

We started with mini corndogs with cheese fondue and sweet potato frites...

Chris had the short rib meatloaf, brown butter whipped potatoes and baby veggies...

I had buttermilk fried chicken with pink peppercorn gravy, brown butter whipped potatoes and delish mac and cheese!

Right next to the Candy Apple (literally across the hall!)is Sweet Pete's Candy Store.

And of course there are candy apples!

We chose the chocolate, caramel, pecan apple!

The whole place was enchanting!

This funfetti truffle was amazing!

We had a wonderful birthday date night and I certainly felt loved on by my family and friends!
