Abby & Nick's New Home

One of the highlights of our Huntsville visit over Memoral Day was decorating Abby and Nick's new place!  Their journey to buy their new home was a challenging one, making it all the more sweet to finally see them settled.

I've been helping friends, family and clients decorate their homes for about six years and I can honestly say I think Abby and Nick's is the most beautiful! Not only are the bones of their house great, but they've made great decisions for paint colors, furniture and finishes.  We were able to use a mixture of items they each had as singles, items they've bought since marriage and then some new things they bought just for their new home.

Here are the before & after pics...

Notice how red and turquoise are repeated in the main living areas.  I've always said buy what you love and it will go together and Abby's house is proof of this- the way the red and turquoise repeated naturally through the main living areas was perfect!

Green carpet is being replaced with tile this summer...

How amazing is this backsplash!?!?

{Dining Room}

Abby is in love with her red dining room! She used Nanny's china cabinet and bought a new farm table and chairs.

{hall & baths}
My trick for walls with lots of extra boxes (alarm, doorbell, etc.) is to work with them and make them flow with the decor. With this collage, you barely notice them. Pictures for the empties on our their way!

Master bath with Abby's Alaska pic...

Guest bath with Nick's NYC pic, new mirror, shower curtain, light fixture...

Over-the-bed art...a combo of treasures we found at Hobby Lobby and Kirkland's.

I'm already having separation anxiety from the house- it is just that beautiful! I hope the pictures capture the essence. Abby and Nick love their new home plus we got Honey Bunch's stamp of approval!

Pomp & Circumstance

Chris and I were honored to join the Phillips last weekend in celebrating Andrew's graduation from high school. We are so proud of him and the man he's becoming!

Where have the years gone!?!? This pic is from 2009 when Jeana and the kids suprised me with a birthday picnic. So many memories!

Jeana and I were so we were the graduates!

Another friend of Jeana's brought Graduation Bingo that was so fun to play! It was things like "someone's cap falls off", "someone thanks their parents"... It was a fun way to pass the time!

Congrats to the Class of 2015!

Yard Work

My idea of yard work is choosing a cute door decoration but thankfully, Chris's definition is broader.  He's been working like crazy the last few weekends tying to get our front and back yards spruced up. The previous owners clearly didn't take care of the yards so he's had a lot of debris, yard trash and buried bricks to clean up. There are so many bricks and pavers that we had to get a Bagster, a mini dumpster, for it all!

He's laid down dozens of bags of mulch, planted some flowers and has the place looking great!

This big guy came to inspect!

I'm so proud of my hard-working husband! I thought it was especially thoughtful that last Saturday on our two year engagement anniversary, he sweated in the shape of a heart!

 Oh the gifts Year Two brings!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day with my Moma had to take place over FaceTime but we were able to host the Brooks clan for dinner Sunday evening.

Here's, brother-in-law Andrew, my hubby, cousin Shane, friend of family Rudy, cousin Sharon, Dad Brooks, Memom, Uncle Robby, Ranant, cousin Buzz, Mom Brooks

We had a salad and baked potato bar...

...and everyone enjoyed Chris's sour cream pound cake!

We had to rearrange a bit to fit 12 of us in but we both enjoy filling our home with family!

So thankful for the love our mothers and grandmothers have showered us with all our lives!
