The Lord's Day

We had a fantastic Sunday of worship at First Baptist Jacksonville's Pastors' Conference.  The choir was incredible!

The Sunday morning sermon was brought by Jerry Vines (FBC's former pastor and Chris's childhood pastor).  Then on Sunday night we got to hear Franklin Graham!  Both men challenged me in my walk and my heart was so blessed by the preaching and worship.

We ended our great day with a quick stop by the Dreamette...a perfect ending!

2 great shows under 1 roof

The last two weekends we've had such fun things to do!  Last Saturday we went to the circus and last night we saw the Gaither Homecoming...and they were both in the same place!  Plus, our seats for the concert were right where the elephants and tigers were just a week either- fun times!

We started our day at the circus with breakfast at Metro Diner...a Jacksonville institution that we hadn't tried yet. Guy from Diners, Drive-ins & Dives has been there!  It was your classic greasy spoon...my fav!

Then my favorite cows got the fun started at the circus!

This huge kitty reminded me of a certain little girl I love...

I hope Honey Bunch doesn't run away with the circus!

These guys are propelling themselves into the air from trampolines- pretty insane!

Our second show was last night- The Gaither Homecoming Tour.

The Gaither Vocal Band was my favorite part.  We loved seeing their two new members...and of course David Phelps!

Gotta have the Gaither flashlights...

And of course plenty of shots of David!

We've been spoiled with such fun events the last two weekends.  The circus was actually an early Valentine's Day gift from me to Chris and the Gaithers was Chris's Christmas gift to me!  Good thing we love the same things!

And the winners are...

Day 1 {winner of the hope cross}: Meg

Meg is such a sweet friend of our family. She knows us well and loves us anyway! Meg helped us with our rehearsal dinner and reception and loved the Forester year of weddings...love you, Meg!

Day 2 {winner of the birthday cake body wash}: Kristen

Kristen and I have been pen pals for several years now. We actually connected on the True Woman blog when we both commented on a post about singleness. We've never met in person but email often. She's fascinating, talented and encouraging. Enjoy your "birthday cake", Kristen!

Day 3 {winner of the tool set}: Abby

Or "church Abby" as I call her since I already had an Abby! We met Abby and her family at church and have enjoyed our evenings of dinner and board games. I was able to do a Bible study with Abby's family this summer and appreciate the laughter and friendship she adds to my life. Happy hammering!

Day 4 {winner of the bunt cakes}: Bethany

Bethany's another friend from church. A few weeks before the wedding, before she had even met me, she emailed and invited me and Chris over for dinner!  She is so kind and aware of people's needs. There isn't a Nothing Bunt Cakes down here, but we've found a cupcake alternative. Hope your sweet treats are delicious!

Day 5 {winner of the handmade mug}: Emily

Emily and I share a bunch of mutual friends (and I did spend an afternoon at her home freshening up her breakfast nook a while back) but we are mostly blog friends. It's funny, though, how close you can feel to a family you read about everyday! Emily's family is precious and I hope one day we can be more than blog friends! I know you'll enjoy your new mug, Emily.

I've loved our giant birthday party this week! I wish everyone could have won cause you're all winners in my book!

One last day of celebration

In honor of Hope Overflowing's 5th birthday, here's Day 5 of the Birthday Giveaways!

This last year of my blog has tracked our first year of marriage in sunny (and rainy!) Jacksonville, Florida. We've had so much fun creating our first home together and discovering special little places around town. We've found a marina that's perfect for watching sunsets and the Dreamette for splurging on soft serve. I also love my BSF class and having World Market nearby!

In honor of my time living in Florida, gift #5 is a hand-made scripture mug. My in-laws introduced me to these mugs that are made by a co-worker of my father-in-law's.  This one has Psalm 25:4 engraved in it-

"Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths."

It's been so fun but today's the last day of celebrations.  I'll share the winners tomorrow...

The birthday continues!

In honor of Hope Overflowing's 5th birthday, here's Day 4 of the Birthday Giveaways!

During the fourth year of Hope Overflowing, I met, fell in love with and married Chris...what a year!  So many of my blog readers had prayed for many years for the Lord to bring my husband into my life so it was a great joy to share our God-filled love story with you all.

We strived to make our wedding and reception very personal and part of that was our wedding favors- mini replicas of Chris's grandmother's Hershey Bunt Cakes. Our amazing friend, Meg, worked for weeks baking the mini cakes for our big day.

Representing my year of falling in love with my sweetheart and our beautiful wedding, gift #4 is a $10 gift card to Nothing Bunt Cakes!  These sweet treats are sure to make your day!

(If there's not a Nothing Bunt Cakes in your area, we will find another sweet gift for you.)

A happy for my friends!

In honor of Hope Overflowing's 5th birthday, here's Day 3 of the Birthday Giveaways!

Year three of my blog chronicled my journey going back to school! I graduated with my first degree in 2004, so going back to school years later was an adventure but I loved it! I've been passionate about interior design for years and really enjoyed expanding my knowledge. Plus, I met so many sweet people and learned I was braver than I thought.

Representing my journey back to interior design school, gift #3 is a handy, dandy, girlie tool set! If you can't book your favorite designer (moi!), use these tools to get those pics hung just right..eye-level!

Happy birthday to us!

In honor of Hope Overflowing's 5th birthday, here's Day 2 of the Birthday Giveaways!

Year two of my blog was all about Celebrating 30, as I counted down to my 30th birthday by blogging my top 30 spiritual milestones. It was a precious walk down memory lane with the Lord. Want to re-read my countdown? Click on the November 2010 blog archive (on the right side of the blog) and work your way to June 2011.

Representing my year of Celebrating 30, gift #2 is a scrumptious bottle of Philosophy Birthday Cake Body Wash. Ahhhh...let the happiness wash over you!

A happy birthday treat...for YOU!

Monday (January 19) is Hope Overflowing's 5th birthday and to celebrate I thought I would gift my readers with birthday gifts! For the next five days there will be birthday giveaways representing the five years of my blog. To be entered for each day's giveaway, just leave a comment or email me. You may enter each day but can only win once.

The first year of my blog I was in the middle of a heart crisis...my plans vs God's plans and trusting in the Lord was difficult. I found comfort in Romans 15:13-

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

The Lord used that year to grow me in trusting Him and eventually I felt that joy, peace and hope.

I pray that the Lord will fill you with His hope today!

Representing my year of hope, gift #1 is a cross of hope for your wall or coffee table. It's from one of my favorite companies, Natural Life.

Anchor

It's hard to find a post appropriate after such a heartbreaking week.

It's hard moving on with life when so many lives are changed forever.

But as Hebrews 6:19 reminds us, "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure."

I'm very thankful to the Lord for His hope and comfort that He's prepared a place for those who have put their trust in Him.

Experiencing the loss of such a beautiful life really makes me view mine with such gratitude that I want to live life more fully.
