Our holiday weekend

We stuck pretty close to home this Memorial Day because Chris is putting some serious study hours in, preparing for his June 7th CFA (chartered financial analyst) test.

On our Friday night walk, we saw this cutie trying to hide and sneak a treat!

I made Nanny's biscuits with buttermilk powder Moma told me about. They were delish! It's always hard to use up an entire jug of buttermilk, so the powder is a great alternative!

We spent Sunday evening welcoming our friend, Marco home from being at sea for a few months with the Navy. I loved their hammock chair and Chris loved their dog, Molly....and she loved him!

We wrapped up the fun with an impromptu cookout and croquet game with our friends the Sanders.

Hope everyone's summer got kicked off in style!

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!

Today, twenty years ago, on May 19, 1994, I asked the Lord into my heart as my Savior.  I remember it like it was yesterday...

I had made a profession of faith when I was 5 years old, but when I was 13 and in a revival service, I felt the Lord prick my heart and I knew I had to make sure of my eternal destination.  I put off mentioning it to anyone for a few days, but eventually found the courage to schedule a meeting with my pastor.  It was in his office that I knelt to pray the prayer that would change me and make me God's child.

I've been pondering salvation a lot recently and have had a chance to solidify in my own heart what I believe. I believe that the Lord "is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness.  Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." (II Peter 3:9)

I'm so grateful that He was patient with me and brought me to repentance of my sin.

Weekend Update

We had a date night at Alahambra Dinner Theatre...the oldest in the country! It was beautiful with little lamps on the table.

The show wasn't that great but the food was delish! It was so good, I was done eating it before I realized I didn't snap any pics!

For Mother's Day lunch, we had Chris's family over- 14 people total!

We enjoyed good food, yard games and chats in the garage- a good day all around!

One year ago...

Today is the one year anniversary of our engagement!

It was a beautiful day of Chris flying up to surprise my family and asking for my hand in marriage...then proposing at sunset on Monte Sano.

It was a day of precious moments especially saying "I love you" for the first time and sharing our first kiss.

What a year! What a man! What a great God we serve! I'm thankful every day for the beautiful love story the Lord continues to write for us.

Honey Bunch's diary

Honey Bunch has now decieded she prefers fresh water from the tap instead of from her water dispenser. This is what Abby and Nick woke to find the other morning- Someone was thirsty and was waiting by the bathroom sink!

Abby recently found these diary entries online and we suspect they might be from Honey Bunch's diary:

Dear Diary: The authorities have removed the black pants from the couch, there is no longer any place for me to sleep. I have vomited three times in protest but there is no sign that anything will change. My only other hope for rest is on the computer keyboard which is nearby but sadly no one is currently using it. I will wait.
Dear Diary: my food dish is now only half full. It is obvious that I will soon starve to death. I have repeatedly tried to draw attention to my predicament with the authorities but they are clearly either stupid, deaf, or just cruel. This may be my last entry.
Dear Diary: It has come to my attention that the authorities have two hands but seem to have made it the sadistic policy only to pet me with one of them at that time. Half of love is just, low-which is how I feel. My spirit is breaking.
Dear Diary: I have decided to plead with the authorities to rub my belly. I think it will do me good in my current condition I would like to receive two rubs exactly. A third one, and I will bite them as per protocol. Wish me luck.
Dear Diary: The water dish continues to vex me. The authorities seem to taunt me with this cruel liquid that has neither smell nor distinguishing visual markings. A sad anniversary, this is the 900th day that my nose has been unintentionally wetted.
Dear diary, Yesterday I put in a simple request regarding the door to the garden but seemingly out of sheer spite the authorities refused to hold the door open long enough for me to decide whether to go outside or inside.
Dear Diary: The squirrel was back again today. It mocks me. I will try and release my mind from this torment and groom myself. For four hours.
Dear Diary: I have been stalking an insect on the wall for the past three days now. All of my attempts to capture it have been thwarted. However today, on further inspection I found out that the insect was in fact a thumb tack. There is no logic in this place.
Dear Diary: It is three in the morning. The authorities have closed the door to the bedroom. I can only assume that they have forgotten about me and have left me here to die. As a last resort I will stand post for the rest of the night and sing the song of my people in hopes that they rescue me.
Dear Diary: My attempts to destroy the terrible plant have all been for naught. Somehow, almost as if by some evil magic, a new one has appeared in its place. I will have to start over now.

Friends, Food & Furriness

Karen was in town for a few days and came for dinner Friday. I made Sweet & Sour Chicken with Fried Rice and it was fabulous to share some yummy food with our sweet friend!

On Saturday, our friends from church, the Sanders, came for fajitas.

The Sanders just moved near us and we are enjoying getting to know them. They love grilling and playing board games so what's not to love, right ???

And I think it's about time for a Honey Bunch update, don't you?

Our precious fur niece brightens my day evetytime Abby sends me a picture.

Love to all my readers...may The Lord bless you greatly this week!
