Our weekend

Chris and I had a wonderful, relaxing weekend together in Jacksonville!

...we strolled through an used bookstore...

...visited a local street market, held under the interstate...

...shared a knish, a Jewish ball of goodness...

...had some sweet bench time...

...enjoyed the beach on our eHarmony blanket (our gift for sharing our love story with them!)...

...worshiped together...

...Chris ministered in the AV ministry at church (and I loved watching Chris minister!)...

...I made sloppy joes for lunch...

...then gobbled up the Pioneer Woman's Apple Tart for dessert...

I can't think of anything I'd rather do than spend hours and hours with my sweetie!

And by the way, today's our 200th day together!

Ooo la la!

My dear friend (and bridesmaid!) Jennifer hosted my lingerie shower on Tuesday night and we had such a great night of giggles and gifts!  We had a delicious fondue bar and everything looked so cute!

How fun is this?!?! Jenn asked everyone to write a Date Night suggestion for our Date Night Jar- thanks girls, for all the good ideas!

Such sweet, ooo la la gifts!

Diary of a Road Trip

I've been on the road a lot this summer! Since our engagement on May 9, I've driven back and forth between Huntsville and Jacksonville 15 times!!!

Today's milestone is that today was my last trip down here alone!

I still have a couple more visits, but Chris will be driving back to JAX with me after flying to Hsv for a couple of events. Unfortunately, I still have three trips back to Huntsville to drive alone, but after that, I'll be driving it with my HUSBAND!!!

My trips have consisted of leaving when it's still dark outside...

Drinking a ton of Diet Mt. Dew...

Admiring my ring...

A few mid-trip naps in random parking lots...

Hauling all my things down load by load...

And oddly enough, seeing the Google car in on almost every trip!

I'm sick of all my iPod music, dug out old CDs (sick of those too!) and have memorized every song currently playing on the radio!
I do get caught up on a lot of phone calls during my 9+ hour treks, but even I am almost out of words!

This bride is tired and is ready to stop living out of a suitcase and settle down with her sweetheart!

Just a few more days...and several more hundred miles...and I'll do just that!

Bridal Blessing Brunch

This afternoon was full of many blessings- literally!  Our dear friend, Suzanne, hosted a joint bridal blessing brunch for me and Abby where special ladies in our lives prayed the Lord's blessing over our upcoming weddings and marriages.

Lovely food...

Lovely friends...

 Lovely prayer (and wedding) warriors!

Lovely blessings, not only prayed over us, but written down so we can be blessed later!

I left today's brunch overwhelmed by the love of such precious friends...overwhelmed with thankfulness to the Lord for His faithfulness in bringing such an amazing man into my life...overwhelmed by my mother's unwavering encouragement in my life...and overwhelmed with joy realizing that I get to marry the love of my life in 67 days!

Engagement Update- Week 14

How can time crawl and fly at the same time!?!?!  We "only" have 10 weeks before our wedding!  I go between flashes of panic that I'm not going to get it all done to moments of calmness after reviewing my to do list and realizing that everything is under control.

My last trip to Jacksonville was just fabulous with a lot of quality time with my sweetie.  I was able to take another load of my things down, getting our home set-up- SOOOO fun!

Chris and I are both avid book collectors and readers so this week I thought I'd share about two books that have been really influential in our relationship.

The Meaning of Marriage
by Timothy Keller

"The Meaning of Marriage" is the best book on marriage I've ever read.  Timothy Keller describes the holiness and romance of marriage like no one else.  You know how some marriage books are goofy or lighthearted?  Not this one.  It's serious, but an easy read in that it's so inspiring.

Night Light
by Dr. James Dobson

This daily devotional has been perfect for us!  Each week has a different theme, with daily "Just Between Us" questions after each devotional which opens up the line of communication very comfortably.  Plus, it's Skype-friendly!

There are several other books that I've been reading, but that's for another post...let me know if you have any favorites or suggestions!

Six Months

Six months ago, on February 8, I first met the man I'm going to marry in 78 days.

I have dreamed of love and marriage my whole life, but even in my wildest dreams, I never expected my love for Chris to permeate every inch of my life.

He is my first thought every day and my last thought every night...he is the one I want to share everything with...he knows everything about me and chooses to love me anyway!

These six months have been a magnifying glass with plenty of opportunities to reveal what's under the surface of my heart- selflessness or selfishness? Pride or humility? Patience or impatience? Trust or fear?

The beautiful part of this process, though, is that Chris and I are learning and growing together. The Lord has been so gracious in our relationship, helping us learn to love each other as He would have us love each other.

Six months and everything has changed- I've experienced love, happiness and excitement like never before.

If the first six months have been this great, I can't wait for the next six months!!!

My Whitesburg Bridal Shower

Have I mentioned I love being a bride?!?!?
I do!  I do!  I do!
I feel like my life is overflowing with love these days...I was feeelin' the love on Sunday when such sweet ladies from church hosted a shower in my honor.
Hostesses Deree, Sherry, Karen and Charlotte have meant so much to me in the 6 years I've been at Whitesburg and it was a dream come true to have a Whitesburg shower!

I'm sure we were talking about my favorite subject- CHRIS!

With Jennifer and Brittni...love these girls!

The funny looks on our faces come from Abby and Moma truly surprising me with our new bedding.  Just hours before the shower I went to "visit" our bedding in the store, wondering if we were going to get it and Moma just played along, knowing that in a few hours she and Abby were going to surprise me with it.  Very typical Forester!

I was blown away by my friends' generosity and kindness- thank you everyone!

Abby's BSF Shower

I don't think there have ever been two more appreciative brides!  Abby and I are floored by our dear friends' sacrifice and generosity, this week displayed by the same sweet friends who hosted my shower last week, hosting Abby's today!  Plus, our BSF friends gladly celebrated with the Foresters two Saturdays in a row- THANK YOU, FRIENDS!

Abby with her future mother-in-law, Gayla

Moma and Meg- two very busy ladies!!!

Delicious favors!

Knowing Abby's love of all things mini, the hostesses served mini BBQ sliders, mini stuffed potatoes, mini cupcakes, mini fruit cups with mini forks and other yummies!

Our pink lovin' bride and her honey...

The moms...

Rhega channeled her inner Alex Trebek with her version of Jeopardy, with all clues and answers about Abby and Nick...so fun!

Elizabeth, Melanie, Susan, Meg, Dicie and Kelsey

Monica, Debbie and Mary

Olivia, Shay (who I still want to call Ms. Brannon, since she was my 4th grade teacher but now she's my BSF Teaching Leader and insists I call her Shay), Karen and Janet

So many pretty gifts!

How blessed we are!!! Now on the next bridal event!
