Weekend Update

I'm never ready for Christmas to be over, so we hosted a Post-Christmas party with some of our girlfriends.  We devoured White Chicken Chili and some sweets and then had a $2.50 gift swap!

It's a little tricky to find a good gift for $2.50, but all the girls did a good job, but I think the gift I got was the best!  Sarah's husband painted this beautiful picture and she put it in a $2 frame!  Isn't it beautiful?!?

Saturday morning, my mom and I met our dear friend, Gina, for breakfast at Shaggy's.  Gina's husband Randy was my youth pastor and they've always held a special place in our hearts!

Remember from a few months ago when Abby, Lora and I went to the VBC and got to meet Tyler Florence, who was in town filming a Food Network Show?  It aired last night...and we made it on TV!!!

That's us on the far right side...

Here's a close-up...

If you're able to catch Food Court Wars, episode 1, you can catch more glimpses of Abby and Lora...the camera loves them!

Ahhh...Hope all this fame doesn't go to our heads!

Christmas Highlights

We kicked off our Christmas by walking the Tinsel Trail downtown.  There were dozens of trees decorated by different companies/organizations with different themes.  It was fun, free and festive!

Doesn't this make you love Huntsville more?

They'd even set up an outdoor skating rink!  We didn't want to break anything, so we just watched everyone else skate.

We had a great Christmas Eve of opening presents and playing board games.  Our Christmas day was filled with stockings (so fun!), cooking lunch together and watching back-to-back-to-back-to-back (you get the picture) episodes of House Hunters.  Nothing fancy, but 100% us!

Christmas Break

I'm relishing my Christmas break and being able to spend quality time with my family and friends.

First up, cheering Keri at one of her basketball games...

...and at her band concert!  The girl has saxophone in her blood!

Also enjoyed visiting with Jennifer and Sunday...Love these two girls!

And how cute is this little guy?  Percy loves the robot blanket I made him...and I love the homemade biscotti from Nick and Sarah!

Because my mom's been sick most of the week, we kept our weekend plans pretty low key, but we were able to re-watch Season 1 of Downton Abbey!  We are going to squeeze in Season 2 before Season 3 starts in January.  It's addictive!

I love getting Christmas presents and love giving Christmas presents, but honestly, the best gift my friends give me is their time to just share life together.

A Whole Lotta Celebratin' Goin' On!

I love celebrating happy occasions with my friends!  And we've had a lot to celebrate this week...

First up...my high school friend, Bethany, is expecting her 3rd child this Spring and it's a GIRL so we met up for brunch at Emma's Tea Room.  Bethany and her family live in Indonesia and her sister and her family live in Spain, so having everyone together is rare and so fun!  Both girls were in town for their mom's wedding...but I'll get to that!

The next celebration was Abby's fancy schamzy work Christmas party at the VBC South Hall.
There was a dance floor (but neither of us danced), a cash bar (but neither of us drink) and tons of door prizes (but neither of us won).  But we still had really good time!

Sunday night was Winterlude at church, a concert with four grand pianos and jazz band.  My good friend, Jeana, is a very talented saxophonist and I always enjoy hearing her play.

Then it was time for Debbi & Eric's wedding on Monday.  Debbi asked me to decorate for the reception and working with her rustic-elegant theme was right up my alley!

Tuesday I had my BSF friends Laura and Alisha over for lunch, which we try to do every Christmas.  Alisha and I were both in Laura's group 7 years ago and we've regularly gotten together ever since.  Now we have the added bonus of Alisha's one year old, Audrey!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Not only has the weather turned more Christmas-like, but the Christmas festivities are beginning!

This weekend, we welcomed the Christmas season with some of our BSF friends...these ladies add so much love, laughter and delicious party food to our lives!

I took Sugar Cookie Fudge recipe off Pinterest and thought it was pretty good and who doesn't love sprinkles!?!?

In celebration of my dad's birthday, I made him Sweet & Sour chicken (also off Pinterest) and it was AMAZING!  I love trying new recipes but they don't always turn out very good, but this recipe tastes like something you'd get in a restaurant.  I served it with fried rice and stir fried broccoli slaw.  I can't wait to make it again!

Then it really felt like Christmas Tuesday night because.....

DRUM ROLL PLEASE...

My friend Jeana gave me tickets to David Phelps' Christmas concert in Columbiana, AL!  She surprised me a couple of weeks ago and you can imagine how thrilled I was!  Jeana wasn't able to go with me, so you can imagine how thrilled Abby was to be my concert buddy!

We stopped by Cheesecake Factory and split the Mac & Cheese Burger and Peanut Butter Cheesecake.  It was all delicious, but I'm still stuffed!

Nothing says Christmas like this...sigh...he was incredible...

And of course, I had to get a souvenir...best $3 I ever spent!
