Gotta love a costume party!

The Interior Design majors had a costume party last night and it was SO fun! Everyone had such cute costumes and it was a blast to visit with everyone outside of class.  It's such a blessing to share such camaraderie with the other girls plus they were lifesavers last semester as I was learning the ropes.

My Glitzy Pumpkin

Last week at school, they announced that the Interior Design students were doing a service project that involved decorating pumpkins for kids at Huntsville Hospital.  I racked my brain for days trying to figure out what kids would enjoy (and might when me a prize!) and I eventually settled on Glitzy, Honey Boo Boo's pet pageant pig.

Of course, if you don't watch Honey Boo Boo, my pumpkin won't impress you, but I'm sure rednecks in south Georgia will love it!

To create my Glitzy, I glued a small dixie cup on a foam pumpkin and painted it pink.  I added her name with stickers to a Dollar Tree tiara and then added a curly tail!

I hope all the kiddos enjoy her!

Our Hero

My grandfather, Harold Forester, was loved by many people for many reasons.  Though I don't remember ever talking to him about it, one of the things I loved about him was his service in the United States Navy.  I'm sure he was modest about his tour of duty, but his ship was in the South Pacific when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and that is very meaningful for this patriotic girl!

When I heard that a veterans memorial was being built in Huntsville, I knew that I wanted Popa's name to be included.  The Huntsville Madison County Veterans Memorial opened last fall, but because of a mistake on their end, the engraved brick that I ordered in April of 2011 wasn't installed until now!

Today we were finally able to go visit the brick laid in honor of Popa's service!

I love this shot of Daddy holding Popa's dog tags...

Here's my solution for a family picture with the brick.  And how's this for silly?  I counted to 3 before snapping this picture, like we needed to smile for it!

We sure do miss our Popa...our hero...

Picture Update

How did I ever live without a cell phone camera?  Though the quality isn't always the best, I love the ease of capturing all the moments of my life.  Here's what's been going on this week...

A certified kitchen and bath designer came and spoke to my Interior Design I class.  The project we've been working on all semester is stressing us all out, but I'm blessed to have several super sweet girls in my class so at least we're stressed together!  Here's Emily showing her enthusiasm...

This is my friend Megan talking to the designer while my fav teacher, Mr. Patel looks on...

Thursday morning started off great with this sweet doggie greeting me at the gas station in Killen.  How cute is he?!?!?!?  Have I mentioned how much I LOVE a dog in the back of a truck???

On Friday, had some girlfriends over for a Pinterest craft night...Abby and Natasha melted crayons on canvases then wrote Bible verses on them.

Sarah and Shannon painted really cute picture frames, Lindsey started painting a trinket box and Rachel taught herself to crochet!  I worked on a birthday gift, but can't show it cause it's a secret...

On Saturday, Jeana, her mom and I went to McKay Books in Chattanooga.  Not only is McKay's the largest bookstore I've ever seen, but they'll give you store credit for books you trade in.  My mom's loved McKay's for years now so when Mrs. Watkins heard about it, we decided on a road trip!

Look at ALL these books!  For the one bin of books I traded in, they gave me $28 which means I got to get $28 of books and CDs.  I know a certain librarian who would probably go crazy in this store!

Back to High School

I had the great privilege to speak to the Family & Consumer Sciences Housing class at James Clemons High School on Friday.

Family & Consumer Sciences is the new name for Home Economics, which is actually what my first bachelors degree is in. So when I ran into my friend Sherri and found out she teaches FCS, we both got excited at the possibilities!

Not only did I love seeing the new, beautiful school and the FCS labs they've built, but I loved being able to share about my ID classes and clients.

I took some of my projects from both PCC and UNA and tried not to bore the high school students too much!

It was a great morning and I left feeling very grateful for the opportunity but also thankful to the Lord for bringing me to this point in my life...a point where almost everyday He provides confirmation that He's preparing me for what He has prepared for me.
